A ridge tile is a shaped tile covering the upper junction between sloping roof surfaces. It works with its fixings and neighbouring components as part of the ridge assembly.
What does this mean on your roof?
The ridge is a different zone from the open tiled surface. A damaged or displaced component therefore needs attention to both visible material and the underlying junction.
Record the location from a safe position; accessing the ridge yourself is not an appropriate way to prepare an enquiry about its condition.
A renovation scope should state explicitly what will happen at the ridge. New ordinary tiles do not automatically include replacement ridge tiles. Ask which components remain, are repaired or are replaced, and how the selected arrangement connects with the slopes. Keep the completed scope boundaries so later maintenance does not assume more extensive work than actually occurred.
