Condensation is the change of water vapour into liquid water when suitable conditions occur, for example on a cold surface within or against a roof construction.
What does this mean on your roof?
Damp marks do not automatically mean rain has entered through the covering. The timing of moisture, use of the room and changes to insulation or ventilation help an investigation.
A photograph records a symptom but does not measure conditions within concealed layers or identify every possible moisture route.
Recurring moisture warrants assessment of external junctions and internal conditions. An additional waterproof outer layer does not automatically resolve condensation. During renovation, ask how the proposed assembly accounts for existing layers and connections. Keep the explanation with your roof records so a subsequent contractor does not have to guess which materials were installed behind the ceiling.
