A sedum roof is a planted roof using sedum plants within a designed green-roof system. Waterproofing, drainage and the supporting structure remain essential beneath the planting.
What does this mean on your roof?
The green surface does not automatically make an existing leaking roof suitable. Establish the condition of the covering and the building’s capabilities first.
Wet loading, access and the selected layers belong in the same assessment. Comparing only the weight of dry plants does not describe the complete proposed arrangement.
Ask how outlets remain accessible and who maintains the different layers. A green roof requires upkeep; it is not a finish that needs no attention after installation. Record how future investigation of the waterproof covering remains possible. Coordinate planting with solar equipment or other installations before separate contractors each develop their own part without a shared understanding of the roof.
