Bitumen is a binder used in reinforced sheets for waterproof roof coverings. Bituminous systems differ in composition, layer arrangement and installation method.
What does this mean on your roof?
A quotation saying only bitumen leaves technical choices unresolved. Ask which existing layers remain, how the substrate will be prepared and which system is proposed at seams, outlets and edges.
An old covering may have different conditions across separate areas and should not be judged solely by its material name.
Some bituminous roofs may be overlaid, but that is a separate decision requiring investigation of the existing assembly. Moisture, adhesion, drainage and junctions remain relevant. Compare an EPDM alternative using equivalent scopes. A price covering only the open surface says little about the complete renovation if other necessary components are omitted.

Will new bitumen correct poor falls?
Not automatically. Roof geometry and drainage need separate assessment.
